Shining the Spotlight on Companies committed to Social Good
I’m so excited to announce this new show I’m creating with my good friend, Jeff Sheehan. We’re still in the early stages of planning, but I wanted to give a little background on the project and talk about what you can expect from the show.
Jeff and I are both marketers and hosts of different podcasts or Internet radio shows. We are BIG believers in giving back to the community in anyway we can and we love to support businesses that do the same. You often hear of this referred to as “social good”.
From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.
– Arthur Ashe
Owning a business and making a good living is a privilege. Some special people choose to take their blessings and use them to bless others. This is something we hope to encourage our listeners to do as well, which is why we’re inviting these leaders to come and share their stories.
What are the goals of this show? They’re simple, really:
- Introduce these companies and hear why social good is such a big part of who they are
- Bring awareness to the causes or organizations they are passionate about supporting
- Encourage more companies to join in and make the world a better place
Where are we now?
I’m all about transparency and that includes giving you a look behind the scenes. I think it’s fun to watch a project like this grow, so I’ll share some of that with you in these weeks leading up to our launch.
Interviews are at the heart of the show and we’re currently setting up the first few for next week. I’ve had quite a few people contact me about it, so I’ll be spending the late part of my evening responding to them. If you know of anyone that would be a good fit for the show, please email me, firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is the look and feel of the Do-Gooders? How will we be presented in iTunes and other podcast players? I have a concept in my head but have yet to hire a designer to do the work. That is one of my goals for next week.
The website is in it’s infancy. Once we have the branding done, I’ll tweak our theme to match. There are other pieces to the website puzzle with a big one being setting up Powerpress–the backbone of the podcast.
While it doesn’t cost anything to submit a podcast to iTunes, there are quite a few expenses required to put on a quality show. Media hosting, website hosting, email system, editing, equipment, plugins, etc. Sponsors will help cover those expenses and allow us to give something back to our favorite organizations. Personally, I’m a big fan of what Restore One is doing in the lives of DMST victims.

I expect our launch to happen in early August. We want to launch with three episodes and it will take some time to get those edited and ready to go. Stay tuned 🙂
PS: We LOVE feedback. Leave us a comment and tell us what you think about the show. Go on, it’s just below.
